Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee Test 70 Fabric Mat 29 Samples Label Identification Is Not Standardized.

Fabric mat is a new product in recent years. It is usually made of raw, regenerated or synthetic yarns. It is loved by consumers because of its characteristics of softness, breathability, sweat absorption, dehumidification, and easy storage. Recently, the Consumer Protection Committee of Shanghai launched a comparative test on fabric mat. The results showed that among the 70 samples, 12 samples were found to be incompatible with fiber content and indication, pH value or formaldehyde content exceeding standard. 29 samples were not fully or not standardized.


This comparative experiment bought a total of 70 fabrics mat samples, of which 48 were collected from Jingdong, Tmall, Suning and other electronic business platforms, 22 were collected from Daxiang, Bailian and other entities shop, 40 adult fabric mat (price ranging from 79 yuan to 1144 yuan), infant fabric mat 30 (price range from 28.9 to 304 yuan), involving Meng Jie, mercury, Luo Lai, Fu Anna, Bo Yang and other brands.


Based on the relevant national standards, this comparative test was carried out on the use of fabric mat, fiber composition and content, health and safety performance, durability, etc., involving formaldehyde, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, pH, color fastness to water, color fastness to perspiration, color fastness to dry rubbing, color fastness to wet rubbing, color fastness to soaping, breaking strength, size change rate of washing, and dimensional change rate caused by cold water immersion.


Fiber composition and content


The measured values of the 8 samples are inconsistent with the indicated values.


Fiber composition and content are one of the important indicators of the internal quality of textiles. This comparative test found that the measured fiber contents and contents of the 8 samples, such as K.S.babe, Jin Sili, Bbe baby, Shanshan and sleekly, were not consistent with the indication value of the tag, which mainly included the false flax content, the name of the ingredient was not standardized, and the ingredient label was wrong. Among them, the cool linen mat made by Tianjin baby Art International Trading Co., Ltd. (nominal trademark: K.S.babe); the nominal model: 120*60cm; its web page is called "linen baby mat", and the tag also shows "100% flax", but it is tested that it does not contain any linen ingredients.


Health and safety performance


1 samples of infant mats, formaldehyde content exceeding standard


Consumers spend more time on summer sleeping mat in summer, so they are more concerned about whether the sleeping mat is especially healthy and safe for infants and young children. The national mandatory standards have strict classification requirements for the safety performance of mat. In this comparative experiment, the formaldehyde content, pH value, color fastness, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dye, heavy metal (lead and cadmium) content of sample coating part, and o-phthalic acid two carboxylic acid were detected.


The results showed that there were 1 samples of infant mats, formaldehyde content exceeded the national standard requirements. The national mandatory standard requires that the formaldehyde content of infant textile products should be less than 20mg/kg. The formaldehyde content of the textile products directly contacting the skin should be less than 75mg/kg, and the formaldehyde content of the textile products directly exposed to the skin should be less than 300mg/kg. Beitong bamboo fiber double layer patent blue mat (blue), known as Shanghai grass shadow Trading Co., Ltd. (nominal trademark: Beitong, nominal size: 75*125cm), the formaldehyde content measured is 25mg/kg, exceeding the standard requirement of less than 20mg/kg.


In addition, the pH values of the 4 samples, such as auspicious three treasures, Liang Liang, seven color doctors, /Dr.turelife and bezhuer, are not within the standard requirements, of which 3 are for infants and 1 for adults. The national mandatory standard requires that the pH value of infant textile products should be between 4.0-7.5. The pH value of the textile products directly contacting the skin should be between 4.0-8.5, and the pH value of the textile products that do not directly contact the skin should be between 4.0-9.0. (nominal trademark: Bei Zhuer); nominal size: no) pH value is measured as bottom cloth 9.1 and cloth 9, far from meeting the standard requirement.


Durability performance


Natural materials shrink more easily.


The indicators for measuring durability of a mat are mainly broken strength and washing size change rate. The durability of mat with different material and structure is very different. The breaking strength is directly related to the service life of the mat. It is the maximum tensile force when the specimen is stretched to fracture. The bigger the value, the better the breaking strength is mainly related to the material and the knitting way of the mat.


This comparative test shows that the fracture strength of samples is obviously different, and the breaking strength results are better than 2000N, and the poor is less than 500N. In terms of material quality, most of the breaking strength is linen, polyester fiber or composite material mat. Most of the breaking strength is regenerated cellulose fiber or cotton and other natural materials with higher content of mat.


In this comparative test, the size change rate of 51 washable samples was tested. The data show that the best sample size of water washing does not shrink, and the worst sample is reduced by 12%. In terms of material quality, most of the shrinkage is not made of polyester fiber or composite material mat. The shrinkage is obviously regenerated cellulose fiber or cotton, linen and other natural materials with higher content of mat.


In addition, this comparative test also found that 23 samples of 48 samples purchased online indicated that they could be washed, but 2 of them were labelled as "washable" on the durability label. It is claimed that washable can attract consumers to buy, but inconsistent content will cause consumers' distress in the use process.


Label identification


29 sample labels are incomplete or non-standard.


The fabric mat is a kind of textile. The instructions for the use of products are mostly used in the GB/T 5296.4-2012, the fourth part of the instructions on the use of consumer goods, the instructions for the use of textiles and clothing, which should include the name and address of the manufacturer, product name, product size or specification, fiber composition and content, maintenance method, product standard and safety category.


This comparative test found that the 29 product samples were incomplete or non-standard in terms of use instruction. Incomplete labeling included unnamed manufacturer's name and address, execution standard, safety category, product name, product size and specification, fiber composition and content, etc. the label was not standardized, including durability label washing and maintenance symbol, fiber composition and content, product size and specification, and product standard label that was not standardized. Among them, 5 samples have no factory name.


Compared with the sample purchase channel, 4 of the 29 products with incomplete or irregular specifications were purchased from the physical store, and 25 purchased from the online shopping mall. The proportion of online shopping problems was relatively high.


The comparison test also found that the implementation of standards and security category labeling is not accurate. The relevant national standards require that infants and young children's textile products should be marked with GB 31701-2015 number and "baby products" on the instructions. This comparative experiment found that there were 3 samples of web pages claiming to be used as mats for infants or newborn babies. However, the word "baby products" was not indicated in the actual tag. Among them, the famous mat made by Nantong Ben Sheng home furnishings Co., Ltd. (the nominal trademark: Bei Zhuer); the nominal size type: no web page claims that it is suitable for newborns, but the words "GB 31701-2015" and "baby products" are not marked on the tag, and the measured value of pH value is far from reaching the standard of infant textile products.
